Open an event to the public and list it on Happening near you

Every event starts Private: only your group sees it. You can open one to the public, and you can choose to show your public events on Happening near you, a page anyone can read.

  1. Turn the board on for your group (once). Open Bands (or Groups), open your group, tick List our public events on the Happening near you board, and press Save. It is off until you tick it.
  2. Mark the event. Open the event and press Change the details (or do it when you first schedule it). Under Who can come pick Open to the public, free or Open to the public, cover charge. For a cover charge, type the amount, like $10. Press Save.
  3. Youth groups: also tick the box that starts This is a youth event. Without that tick the event is not listed, even when it is marked public.
  4. The event's page shows a Board line that tells you where it stands: being reviewed, on the board, or waiting for a person to look.

What the public sees: the event name, your group's name, the place and its address, the date, the time, and Free or the cover. Never a member's name, and nothing else from your group.

Review: AI looks at every listing before it shows, usually in under a minute. Anything it is unsure about waits for a person at GLAR.

Changes: change the event and the listing is reviewed again, then updates. Call the event off and the listing stays, marked Cancelled, until its date has passed, so people who planned to come find out. After the date, listings come off the board by themselves.

Where it shows: a visitor sees events near them when their phone or computer shares a location, or near a town they type. The area comes from the venue's town, or your group's Based in town when the event has no venue.
